Filer-reported items

The list of 8-K item codes the registrant declares in the filing's submission header.

Definition

When a public company submits an 8-K to EDGAR, the submission metadata includes a comma-separated list of item codes the filer is asserting they're filing under. EDGAR exposes this list in the atom feed <summary> and in the company submissions JSON.

Filer-reported items are the easy answer to 'what is this 8-K about?' — but they're only the filer's claim. Parsing the body and comparing detected items against the filer-reported list is how you measure whether the filer's classification is honest.
