Terms of Service

1. The service

FilingFirehose is a JSON API that provides parsed and structured data derived from filings publicly disclosed on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR system. The service includes a free public tier (covering the past 72 hours of filings, no API key required) and paid subscription tiers covering the full historical archive plus webhook delivery and other features. By accessing the service you agree to these terms.

2. Accounts

You may create an account by signing up for the free 14-day Pro trial or by purchasing a paid subscription via Stripe. You agree to provide accurate information, maintain the security of your API key, and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You are responsible for all activity under your account. One trial per email address; abuse of the trial mechanism may result in account termination without refund.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the service to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the API
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the API to third parties without our written consent
• Use the data to harass, defame, or unlawfully target any individual or entity
• Make trading decisions you would not make absent the data, with the implication that the data is investment advice (it is not — see Section 7)
• Exceed your tier's rate limits in a way that degrades service for other users
• Attempt to circumvent authentication, billing, or rate limiting

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice depending on severity. Refunds for prepaid time may be issued at our discretion in cases of accidental violation.

4. Data and intellectual property

The underlying SEC filings are public-domain U.S. government records. Our parsing, classification, and structured representation are our intellectual property. You may use the parsed data internally and in published research that cites the source ("data: FilingFirehose"); you may not republish bulk structured datasets except as expressly permitted.

5. Pricing and billing

Subscription fees are billed via Stripe in U.S. dollars. Monthly subscriptions renew automatically on the same day each month; cancel any time from the Stripe customer portal or by emailing us. Lifetime Pro is a one-time payment with no recurring charges. Free trials convert to paid only if you explicitly subscribe; we do not auto-charge at trial end.

Refunds: cancel within 14 days of paid subscription start for a full refund of that period. After 14 days, no refunds for partial months.

6. Service level and availability

We target 99.5% uptime on the paid tiers but do not guarantee any specific uptime. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We make a best effort to ingest filings within seconds of EDGAR availability but do not guarantee specific latency. Free public tier may be rate limited or temporarily unavailable during traffic spikes.

7. Not investment advice

FilingFirehose is a data service, not investment advice, financial advice, legal advice, or accounting advice. The classifications, flags, and excerpts produced by our parsers are best-effort interpretations of public filings. Investment decisions are your responsibility. We disclaim any liability for trading or investment outcomes that you may attribute to use of the service.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claims arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or lost business opportunities.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ablon Group, LLC and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.

10. Modifications

We may modify these terms; material changes will be communicated via email to active customers at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
